5th Annual Independent Music Awards®
BEST NEW AGE ALBUM
Wednesday, December 14th, 2005
We are pleased to announce
that Suzanne Ciani's new
release, Silver Ship has
WON Best New Age Album in
the 5th Annual Independent
Winners are selected from thousands of submissions from around the
world, representing the growing presence of the independent music community.
The IMA awards give heightened visibility to artists who work without
the benefit of the marketing power of major labels.
Suzanne Ciani chose to become independent in 1994, after many years
signed to a major label, BMG, now Sony/BMG. Five of her masters are
still owned by this major label. By choosing to become independent
and start her own record label, Seventh Wave, Ciani is able to maintain
ownership of her recordings.
“It is a great honor to win this award,” says Ciani. “I have
been nominated 5 times for a Grammy in the past, but the distance between independents
and majors has been growing and it is more and more difficult to amass the votes
for a Grammy without the voting blocks that major labels have.”
Established in 1999 by Music Resource Group, the Independent Music
Awards continues to highlight the best music and graphic designs produced
by and for Indie artists.
as Norah Jones,
Bill Wyman, and George Clinton.

Ship: the worst thing you can say about a Ciani record is that it’s
good, and this is way better than good.
